Welcome to Southern California!

Upon arrival transfer to the Hotel Irvine, where you'll check-in for your five-night stay. A welcome dinner at the hotel is planned as you settle in and get ready for your Rose Parade experience.

Rose Parade Float Decorating Tour, Lunch and Admission to the Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens

Rose Parade Float Decorating Tour Experience the magic of the Rose Parade floats before New Year’s Day! You’ll see some of these magnificent floral floats in their final stages of preparation for the Rose Parade when you visit one of the major float building sites. You will see a variety of fruit, seeds, bark, grasses and of course, breathtaking flowers being applied to the floats by hard working volunteers as well as experienced professionals.

The Huntington Library and Botanical Gardens The Huntington is an oasis of art and culture set amidst 150 acres of breathtaking gardens. The Gallery contains the most comprehensive collection of British 18th and 19th century art outside of London. And aside from the beauty you’ll find inside the Huntington Library, the outside is just as pretty. The gardens are enormous – 130 acres with 14,000 varieties of trees and plants. It is home to the largest public collection of camellias and azaleas in the world, and the Rose Garden with more than 1,200 varieties. Lunch will be included at the library.

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library with White House Luncheon under the wings of Air Force One

Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your docent and set out to explore the museum and learn about the events that shaped history during Reagan’s eight years in the White House. You’ll share President Reagan’s dream and learn how he led America toward it. The state-of-the-art museum takes you from Reagan’s early years to his time spent as a world leader. You will also have the opportunity to observe the final resting place of former President Reagan and Mrs. Nancy Reagan at the library and touch a piece of the Berlin Wall. One of the most exciting experiences you will have at the Library is when you get to go inside Air Force One to get a first-hand look at how the President travels.

After your tour, you’ll be treated to an elegant White House luncheon underneath the wings of Air Force One. This three course menu was designed for one of President Reagan’s luncheons held at the White House. Lunch will be served on fine china and linen draped tables to give you the feeling as if you were dining with the President himself. The rest of the afternoon, you can explore the temporary exhibits and visit the gift shop.

Warner Bros. Studio Tram Tour and Hollywood City Tour

Warner Bros. Studios VIP Tour
You’ll get an insider’s look at one of Hollywood’s busiest and most famous motion picture studios. On this fun tour, you’ll get an intimate, historical and educational behind-the-scenes view of an actual working studio. Guests will be escorted via trams throughout the backlot. You’ll see sound stages, production shops, and film sets. You’ll visit the Warner Bros. Museum – a true archive of filmed entertainment history. Exhibits include some of Warner Bros. famous costumes and movie props. Routes for the tour change from day to day to accommodate production on the lot, so no two tours are ever exactly alike!

Hollywood City Tour
The history of Hollywood will come to life as you explore Hollywood’s Past and Present. Your knowledgeable tour guide will take you to the center of the glitz and glam. Visit Graumman’s Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and much more. Lunch will be on your own at the Hollywood and Highland Center.

Catalina Island

Catalina Island You’ll board one of the Catalina Express ferries for a short one-hour cruise to the island. These vessels offer both inside and outside seating, as well as a snack bar and restroom facilities on board for your comfort. You’ll log some 26 miles as you sail the calm ocean waters over to Catalina Island. As you approach the island, you’ll first see the misty green peaks of a mountain range that rise from the ocean floor to form this and the other Channel Islands. Next, your eyes will be drawn to the gleaming buildings climbing the hillside above the Mediterranean-style port of Avalon and its legendary casino. And finally, you’ll sail into the thriving harbor, alive with pleasure boats and the occasional cruise ship. Once you arrive, the day is yours to get acquainted with the storybook town of Avalon, which you’ll find is packed with boutiques, restaurants and things to do! You might want to take a cruise aboard the Glass Bottom Boat, tour the historic Casino, take a guided tour of Avalon, or rent a golf cart or bicycle to sightsee on your own this afternoon. You will be on the island from 10:50am until 3:45pm.

Day 4

130th Tournament of Roses Parade, Southern California Backyard BBQ and Special Movie Night "Under the Stars."

Enjoy an early morning buffet breakfast at the hotel before heading to Pasadena where you will have reserved premium grandstand seats as you watch the Rose Parade make its way down Colorado Boulevard. A souvenir program and blanket are included. After the parade, you'll return to the hotel for a Southern California Backyard BBQ. The remainder of the afternoon is at your leisure. In the evening, we will be holding a special movie night "under the stars." Bring your picnic dinner from the Marketplace and don't forget the wine!

Homeward Bound

After breakfast, you'll bid farewell to new friends as you transfer back to the airport for your flight home.

Cancellation Policy (fee is per person):

Cancellations made prior to October 15, 2018 - Full refund    

Cancel between October 16-30, 2018 - $100.00 per person fee    

Cancel between November 1-30, 2018 - 50% per person fee plus airfare is non-refundable!    

Cancel on or after December 1, 2018 - No refunds   

 

Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to protect your deposits from cancellation fees. Not Included are meals not listed in the itinerary, optional tours, optional travel insurance, luggage fees assessed by airline, refreshments purchased on board the plane, room incidentals, alcoholic beverages, items of personal nature, gratuities for all local services including drivers/guides, possible fuel surcharges. Fuel surcharges are possible and will be added approximately 60 days prior to departure if needed. We will do everything possible to avoid this.

Baggage Allowance Portage at the hotel for one suitcase (per person) is included in the tour price. Due to limited motor coach capacity, your single bag should have dimensions not exceeding 30" x 21" x 11" and weigh no more than 50 lbs. Small carry-on bags are allowed and are your responsibility. Most airlines assess a baggage fee. This fee is not included in the tour price and is paid for at airport check-in.

 

Church and Faith We encourage you to attend the church of your choice while on tours if conditions allow. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any special provisions or transportation to attend church. Many tour directors share "Thoughts of the Day" verses of inspiration, or a short prayer to start the day.

 

Special Needs

Travelers needing special assistance must notify Allied Tours at the time of booking. Persons requiring assistance must be accompanied by a companion who can help with these special needs as tour directors and drivers have obligations to the whole group.
