Day 1

Travel Day/Falls of the Big Sioux River

Travel to the Black Hills with Allied and take in the Custer Buffalo Round Up adventure. As we depart today, we take time to view the Falls of the Big Sioux River in Sioux Falls. The Falls of the Big Sioux River have been a focus of life in the region throughout history. Native American people were the first to visit the falls and bring stories of them to European explorers. They have been the center of recreation and industry since the founding of the city in 1856.

Overnight (2) Keystone, SD

Day 2

Black Hills Tour/Mount Rushmore

Get ready for a full day of touring in the Black Hills! Our journey today includes Iron Mountain Road and the famous "Pig Tale" bridges; Needles Highway (squeeze through the rocks!); Mount Rushmore with free time to view our nation's most beloved mountain sculpture; Crazy Horse Memorial; Fort Hayes Chuckwagon for breakfast and Chuckwagon supper show.

Day 3

Custer State Park Buffalo Roundup/ Independence Hall

We are up early this morning to enter Custer State Park for the 49th annual Buffalo Roundup. The motor coach will park on the hillside and we will venture out to watch the sunrise and wait for the buffalo. Please bring a lawn chair and/or blanket plus warm clothes including hat, gloves & scarf. Before the sun rises, you may purchase a cup of coffee or a pancake breakfast to be enjoyed out on the range. As the sun comes up over the hill, you warm up and begin to watch and wait. It's not long and you may hear a distant thunder or catch a glimpse on the horizon of a dark shadow. Then, local cowboys & cowgirls do their best to drive the park's herd into the buffalo corrals, passing by your viewing area. American history meets amazing art in Independence Hall. Learn about the Declaration of Independence and the 56 men who signed it….housed inside a reproduction of Philadelphia's Independence Hall.

Overnight (2) Rapid City, SD

We learn about the "Story of the Bison" at Tatanka. Our guide will teach us about the Lakota way of life and will take us to the refurbished Tatanka sculpture depicting a buffalo jump commonly used by the Plains Native Americans to harvest large numbers of buffalo. We then travel to Deadwood for the "original Deadwood" tour with a step-on guide. Hear the tales of yesteryear in Deadwood. Travel up to Mt. Mariah, the infamous Deadwood cemetery, where many notable western personalities are buried. Dinner tonight at Saloon #10 - famous for where Wild Bill Hickok met his demise.
