Day 1

Boone & Scenic Railroad/Mamie Eisenhower Birthplace

Get ready for a fun day of "railroading." Experience first-class service as it was during the golden age of rail travel when you dine aboard the historic Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad. Travel through the Des Moines River Valley, cross over the famous Kate Shelley Bridge, and relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Mamie Doud Eisenhower's birthplace provides a unique historical and educational look into the past. In addition to her home and library, you will see exhibits including many of Mamie's awards, photographs, dresses, campaign items, and other memorabilia. Also, visit the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and History Center. This new 9,000 square foot facility features a large research library and an impressive collection of railroad memorabilia.

Overnight (2) Des Moines, IA

Day 2

It's Tulip Time!

Spend all day at the Pella Tulip Festival starting with the beautiful sunken gardens. Enjoy free time in the square before savoring a Dutch lunch. Then take your reserved seat for the Midwest's most colorful event-the Pella Tulip Parade. Complete with street scrubbers, the baby carriage parade, floats and local bands, this event is the best in the Midwest. (Please note exact tulip blooming is subject to nature and cannot be guaranteed).
